LG launches DeepThinQ artificial intelligence platform for develope AI products.

LG Electronics recently launched an artificial intelligence brand, ThinQ, which greatly enhances its utilization and accessibility to its deep artificial intelligence platform, DeepThinQ, and accelerates the development of artificial intelligence products and services.

Recently, LG Electronics has deployed its proprietary Deep Learning-based artificial intelligence technology into a platform that can be easily used and distributed to all organizations in the company. The name of the platform is DeepThinQ 1.0.

This platform is meaningful because it enables easy integration of artificial intelligence technology into a wider range of products. Anyone who is interested in artificial intelligence will be able to use the platform to develop artificial intelligence products.

Deep Thinking 1.0 is equipped with various artificial intelligence functions such as voice / video / sensor recognition, space / human body detection, etc., which have been secured based on the data accumulated since the 90's since LG Electronics. Currently, the operating system that supports it is expanded to Android (Android) and webOS (webOS) in addition to Linux, so that developers can utilize it more variously.

DeepScunch 1.0 also includes a "data learning" feature, which is the heart of deep learning technology. Products that will take advantage of the DeepSync platform will be smart enough to use a variety of usage information sent to the cloud server and learn by themselves.

Deep Thinking, unlike conventional general purpose artificial intelligence technology, provides a function optimized for the 'product' used by the customer and the space in which the customer operates. This is also the direction of LG Electronics artificial intelligence technology.

Deep Thinking products understand not only the external environment but also the patterns of customer life. For example, if indoor air quality is poor, we recommend that customers run air purifiers, recommend a laundry course dedicated to the weather, recommend a dedicated laundry course for customers who exercise frequently, In the middle of the night when the refrigerator is not open, the refrigerator automatically operates by power saving.

Deep sinks are also used in commercial applications. As LG Electronics introduced through airport robots,  technology to increase the voice recognition rate by removing ambient noise  technology to control the robot to get accurate position and to operate smoothly is useful in crowded space

Earlier, LG Electronics established an artificial intelligence laboratory under the CTO division in June and is accelerating research on artificial intelligence. Deep Thinking 1.0 is also the result of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence. LG Electronics is evolving various specialized functions of Deep Thinking.

Meanwhile, in line with the open strategy of the recently launched artificial intelligence brand 'ThinkQuest', LG Electronics plans to provide the user with a complete user experience by linking various artificial intelligence technologies and solutions to the DeepSync platform.

"Deep Thinking, an artificial intelligence platform, has evolved based on accumulated data from artificial intelligence appliances and commercial robots," said Park Eul-pyeong, chief technology officer at LG Electronics. "Deep Thinking will enable LG Electronics to differentiate itself from other artificial intelligence products and services "He said.

Moving on, the user-agent profile also reveals two models of the H82XX series including H8216, H8266, H8276 and H8296.

All these information have to be confirmed officially by SONY.

MWC 2018: Samsung preparing for Galaxy S9 smartphones series production.

Concept by Benjamin  Geskin

Samsung Electronics started preparing for production of its next strategic Smartphone ‘Galaxy S9’ series. It decided on parts that will go into Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus and started supply and demand process of necessary parts. New Smartphones will be mass-produced as finished products starting from January. It is likely that they will be then introduced to the public in February and released in March.

According to industries on the 26th, Samsung Electronics started ordering parts that will go into Galaxy S9 series and it asked its partners to mass-produce main boards for Galaxy S9 series. Samsung Electronics decided to use ‘SLP (Substrate Like PCB)’, which is considered as a next-generation HDI (High Density Interconnection) board. It is planning to fill 60% of demands for entire boards with SLPs.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Korea Circuit, Daeduck GDS, and Ibiden will be in charge of initial production of main boards. Although ISU Exaboard put its name as a supplier, it is expected to join other suppliers starting from January as its preparation is somewhat late.

SLP, which stands for Substrate Like PCB, applies ‘MSAP (Modified Semi Additive Process)’, that is used for manufacturing of semiconductor boards to HDI board. Main point of this process is to make refined lines, which are difficult to implement through current methods, through MSAP in order to support high performance while making boards smaller.

Mass-production for camera modules that will go into Galaxy S9 series also started. According to industries, Partron and Power Logics started initial production of front camera modules that will be used for selfies. Front camera will be composed of an iris recognition camera and a regular camera. Integrated camera that combines both iris recognition camera and regular camera will be used for Galaxy S9 while S9 Plus will have separate iris recognition camera and regular camera.

While Patron is the main vendor for Galaxy S9’s front cameras, Power Logics will be in charge of front cameras that will be used for Galaxy S9 Plus.

MCNEX and CAMSYS will participate as secondary suppliers for Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus respectively. Samsung Electronics divides its partners into primary and secondary suppliers depending on their capabilities in development and production in order to have stable supply and demand of Smartphone parts.

It is decided that Galaxy S9 Plus will have a dual-camera and this will be the first time when Samsung Electronics is going to insert dual-cameras into Galaxy S series. However Galaxy S9 is going to have a single camera just like Galaxy S8 series. It seems that Samsung Electronics made such decision after considering differences between Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. Samsung Electronics and Samsung Electro-Mechanics are planning to start mass-producing rear dual-cameras and single cameras that will go into Galaxy S9 shortly.

Samsung Electronics is planning to introduce Galaxy S9 series in Barcelona at the end of February of next year and start selling them on markets in early March. Reason why it is preparing for production even though there are still two to three months left before the official release of Galaxy S9 series is because it can announce and sell them at the same time by securing inventories ahead of time. It is expected that Samsung Electronics will produce Galaxy S9 series starting from January for about two months and release them globally at the same time.

Production of Galaxy S series has significant impact on South Korean and foreign Smartphone parts manufacturers. Samsung Electronics sell about 40 million to 50 million Galaxy S series every year. Because Galaxy S series have high sales volumes and require high-performance parts, status of their supplies has huge impact on Samsung Electronics’ performance. It is heard that SLP’s unit cost is at least 20% more expensive than that of HDI board.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are expected to be announced at MWC 2018 in Barcelona.

Science: In the near future your broken phone screen will repair itself in 30 seconds.

The cost of replacing a broken screen is usually high.

The amazing glass that repairs itself in 30 seconds when it breaks.

It happens even to the most cautious of mortals: at some point, distraction through, the cell phone escapes from the hands and ends up on the floor with the screen shattered.

Replace it is often expensive, so many, if they are lucky that the phone continues to work, prefer to go through life with the screen broken.

But now, a team of Japanese researchers seems to have found a solution to the problem.

Led by Professor Takuzo Aida of the University of Tokyo, they created a new type of crystal that has the ability to repair itself.

Glass, which has the potential to be used for the screen of mobile phones and other fragile devices, is made of a lightweight polymer that recomposes its own breaks when pressed with the hands.

Unlike other previously created materials that "heal" alone, this polymer does not need temperatures in the order of 120º C to reorganize its structure.

It is repaired simply by pressing manually for 30 seconds, at a temperature of 21ºC.

Accidental discovery.

The magnificent properties of the material were discovered by chance by graduate student Yu Yanagisawa, when he was working on the creation of a glue.

Without wanting to, Yanagisawa cut the surface of the polymer.

He almost had no time to mourn the incident, when he noticed that the edges of the broken surface were sticking together again.

The young man repeated the process to check what he had just discovered and noticed that, in addition, the glass recovered its original firmness in a couple of hours.

The new polymer, the researchers said in the study published in the journal Science, is "very robust from the mechanical point of view while it can be quickly repaired by applying pressure on fractured surfaces."

"I hope that the glass that repairs itself becomes a new material friendly to the environment, that you do not need to throw when it breaks," Yanagisawa told the Japanese media NHK.
